Three hurt in Highway 41 collision
SPIRIT LAKE — Three people were hurt in a collision on Highway 41 on Friday afternoon.
According to the Idaho State Police, a 16-year-old male was driving an ATV when he crossed the highway about 3 p.m. near milepost 16 from Spirit Bend Avenue going westbound to get onto a dirt access road.
"The ATV failed to yield to southbound highway traffic, and as a result, a red 2018 Subaru Forester driven by a 73-year-old female collided with the ATV," an ISP press release said.
The ATV rider, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the ATV. He was taken via Life Flight helicopter to Kootenai Health.
The Subaru went off the roadway and crashed into a tree, ISP said. The female driver and her passenger were transported by ambulance also to Kootenai Health, ISP said.
State Highway 41 was blocked for about 40 minutes.
An investigation continues.
