On April 25, 2024, Joel (Joe) Miller of Arab, Ala., went to heaven, passing away peacefully with his wife, Shelly, by his side after a long battle with cancer.

He was born to Oscar and Irene Miller on Jan. 23, 1951, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Joe was raised and attended school and church in Post Falls, Idaho. He worked at DeArmond Stud Mill in Coeur d’Alene for many years. In 2002, Joe met the love of his life, Shelly, in Alabama and blended their immediate families. They then married July 16, 2008, in Coeur d’Alene, where they both have many family members but continue to reside in Alabama.

Joe is survived by his wife, Shelly Miller, children Joel Miller, Derek Easterly, Tristin Wall, Tyler Pritchett, Dylan Pritchett and daughter-in-law Rachel Miller. Siblings, brother Gary (Wendy) Miller, sisters Sandra Hammer, Jeannie (Randy) Rubringer, Diane (Destry) Campbell and his grandchildren, Katie Brown, Savannah (Zack) Fraze, Austin Brown, Colton Miller, Greyson Miller, Ruth Miller and Roscoe Wall. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends, including Pat and Virginia McCarty. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Tami Miller Brown, son Joshua Miller and nephew Randy Rubringer.

Joe loved his family and enjoyed coming home to Idaho every summer. He was a proud dad to all his kids and doted on his grandchildren every time they were together. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and picking huckleberries in the mountains and lakes of Idaho. He won the first “The BIG One” Chinook fishing derby on Lake Cd'A and went home with a new boat. Joe was also a fan of the ponies at Playfair. And he hardly ever went to a casino he didn’t like. He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.
