COEUR d’ALENE — Police are seeking a man behind a reported rape attack in Coeur d’Alene.

The victim told police she was walking to catch a bus near W. Hubbard Avenue and North Idaho College Drive about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 11 when a man approached her.

According to a press release, the man spoke to the victim and followed her down the sidewalk. The woman said when she slowed to look at him, he grabbed her from behind and tried to drag her to the ground.

“The victim said the male attempted to sexually assault her, and she was fighting him off,” the release said. “She said she saw headlights from a vehicle coming from the round-a-bout area and he jumped up and ran away.”

The victim, who lives in the downtown area, boarded the bus and told the driver what happened. He drove her to a Sherman Avenue bar, where she called police.

Police issued a press release Thursday.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, average build, 35-40 years old. He has blond/red facial hair, mustache and stubble. He was wearing a brown jacket, gray beanie and boots.

Anyone with information on this case is asked police, 769-2320.
