Need a sweet ride? Bid on a city car.

The city of Coeur d’Alene Street Department wants to put up several cars for auction since it no longer needs them. The cars still run, but they’re near the end of their usable lives.

They are a 1990 Ford Aerostar van, 1998 Chevrolet Lumina, 1997 Ford Crown Victoria and a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria.

The city has previously partnered with the school district and Kootenai County to provide an auction where vehicles were sold. Financial gain from the sale of surplus vehicles will be placed back in the general fund.

The proposal will go before the General Services Committee today at noon and then should go to City Council next week for approval and eventual scheduling. — Tom Hasslinger
