November 15, 2012 Legal Notice The St. Joe Ranger District is interested in your comments on 3 potential upcoming grant applications to the State of Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. The St. Joe Ranger District is applying for a grant to assist paying for trail restoration on selected motorized trails in Big Creek, Slate Creek and the North Fork of the St. Joe River: Big Creek Trail 44, Bad Tom Trail 164, Pierce Ridge Trail 563 and Hammond-Kyle Trail 489. These trails receive use by motorcyclists, hikers, and stock riders. We also will likely be applying for grant money for non-motorized trails in the Little North Fork of the Clearwater drainage, part of the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area: Larkins Creek Trail 108. All indicated trails are in need of brushing and tread work and there are trail hazards for one or more user groups that need repair. The work includes logging out, drainage repair, brush cutting, treadwork, rock removal, sign replacement and repair. The St. Joe Ranger District is also applying for a grant to restore the top 3 miles of Beaver Creek Road. This road is a main access route into the Snow Peak Wildlife Management Area, Sawtooth Saddle and the Mallard Larkins. The road is in very poor condition and can be treacherous when vehicles are meeting one another.
