Blackwell gets first win for Indians

SPOKANE - Shawn Blackwell picked up his first win, pitching four innings of shutout ball to give the Spokane Indians a 4-1 win over the Boise Hawks on Monday night in Northwest League baseball play before 3,295 at Avista Stadium.

Ryan Rua had a two-RBI single in the sixth to hand the Indians a 3-1 lead, and Christopher Garia tripled to lead off the Spokane eighth, later scoring on a wild pitch.

Garia scored the game's first run in the first after leading off with a single, moving to second on a balk, and toaking third on a sacrifice bunt. He went home on Preston Beck's groudout.

Spokane (3-8) hosts Boise (4-7) again tonight at 6:30.
