Mark W. Dauderman

A burgeoning business burglary spree was nipped in the bud Sunday when Post Falls police officers arrested Mark W. Dauderman.

Department personnel responded to a burglary alarm at the Ross Point Hico gas station and convenience store at 3:43 a.m and discovered the doors had been shattered with large rocks and scratch-off lottery tickets and jewelry were missing.

Investigators found the wooden stand that held the jewelry and some of the items in nearby grass. K-9 units began tracking the suspects.

As the gas station burglary investigation continued early Sunday, officers responded to another business burglary call at Sling Shots Espresso, 3826 E. Seltice Way. An employee who arrived to open the business at 4:53 a.m. found the windows shattered and the cash register missing.

The department's K-9 officer then approached two males near Highway 41 and Ross Point. One of them matched the description of one of the suspects seen in video surveillance footage from the gas station. The man, Mark W. Dauderman, was in possession of cash, Sling Shot espresso coffee cards, knives and a lot of jewelry, many of the items with Ross Point Hico price tags attached.

The items were returned to their owners and Dauderman, 53, was arrested for burglary and booked into Kootenai County Jail where he remains incarcerated. Bail has been set at $100,000.
