ARENA FOOTBALL

The fifth-grade Lake City Timberwolves fell 21-14 in overtime to Lewis and Clark/Ferris of Spokane in YMCA Spokane arena football league play at the Spokane Shock Training Facility.

The T-Wolves staged a fourth-quarter comeback, closing the score to 14-6 on a 1-yard run by Derek Pearse with 4 minutes left. Lake City scored again with 1.2 seconds left on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Pearse to receiver DJ Wattam. After a penalty, the two-point conversion was successful on another Pearse/Wattam connection to tie the game.

Defensively Lake City was led by Max Peed, Patrick LaSarte, Thomas Schmidt and Brogan Link, all with four or more tackles. Lake City travels back to Spokane to take on West Valley/Mt. Spokane on Friday night.

SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting under-9 boys United: The Sting defeated Moscow U10 5-3 last Saturday. Noah Janzen scored a hat trick, with assists from Cooper Prohaska and Tate Novak, and Miles Jone scored two goals.

Sting U10 girls Real: The Sting beat the Idaho Thunder (Foster) team 11-3 on Saturday. Molly Foster scored four goals, Gabrielle Roberts three, and Myah Rietze, Isabella Lucky and Alexandra Bailey one each.

Idaho Thunder U11 (Halseth): The Thunder beat the Spokane Shadow (Zidane) 4-0 on Saturday. Thunder goals were scored by Cameron Calabretto, Tristan Delbridge, Alex Lycan and Jalen Skalskiy. Cameron Calabretto also had two assists. Max Smith had 4 saves in posting the shutout in goal.

Later that day, the Thunder beat the Spokane Shadow (Messi) 9-4. Tristan Delbridge had a hat trick and Gavin McLuskie scored two goals for the Thunder. Ben Blakely, Jadyn Freeman, Carson Jacobsen and Cameron Calabretto each scored one goal. Gavin McFeely had two assists while other assists were made by Cameron Calabretto, Tristan Delbridge, Jadyn Freeman, Gavin McLuskie and Jalen Skalskiy.

Idaho Thunder U-10 (Sater): The Thunder played three Puget Sound Premiere League games over the weekend.

On Saturday the Thunder tied Washington East 2-2 at Spokane Polo Club. Devin Claflin scored twice for the Thunder, assisted by Aiden Juntilla and Ayden Tweedy.

On Sunday the Thunder tied the Spokane Shadow (Barca) 2-2 at River City Middle School. Devin Claflin and Braden Ferreira scored for the Thunder, with assists by Devin Claflin and Ayden Tweedy. Also on Sunday the Thunder beat CWSA Navy 4-2 at River City Middle School. Cody Carvajal scored two goals, Ethan Lawson and Braden Ferreira one each for the Thunder, and Alex Moate, Ayden Tweedy, and Devin Claflin had assists. The Thunder is 3-2-1 in league play.

Idaho Thunder U-14 girls (Foster/VanLeuven): After a tough loss to Washington East, the Thunder bounced back for a 1-0 win over FC Spokane G98 Jarvis last Saturday. Cheyenne Kleiner had the lone goal for the Thunder and goalie Emily Parson had the shutout.

Sting U12 girls Arsenal: The Sting has won five of their last six games and has only allowed two goals all season. In their most recent game, the Sting beat the Cobra Tigers 4-0 with Erika Skindlov scoring two goals, one with an assist by Katie Venera. Eryn Ducote and Lexi Medina also each scored once. Janessa Ingram and JoJo Zaragoza teamed for the shutout in goal.

Sting U14 Girls Roma: The Sting tied the Cobra Wombats 1-1 on Saturday, with a goal by Elaine Vedder. The Sting beat ASE Royal 1-0 on Sunday with a goal by JC Holton. Morgan Bixenstein earned the shutout in goal.

Sting U13 girls (Tottenham): The Sting shut out Real North Idaho Avalance 8-0 this past weekend. Abigail Ellison scored a hat trick, Annica Wilson scored twice, and Anna Hilbert and Abbigale Shrontz both scored once.

Sting U15 girls gold: The Sting won both their games this past weekend. The Sting shut out FC Spokane G96 Dimmler 5-0. Nicole Mitten scored two goals and Sydney Quimby, Alex Boifeuillet and Caitlin Barber each scored once. Sydney Quimby and Julia McCaw both had an assist.

The Sting shut out the Spokane Sabers FC Wurst 6-0. Sydney Quimby scored a hat trick, and Nicole Mitten, Isabella Scott and Mikinzie Hague each scored once. Julia Roach and Samantha Lane teamed in goal for the shutout.

Sting U10 girls Sounders: The Sounders played three games in the Tri-Cities this past weekend. Alex Plucker had two shutouts in goal for the Sounders.

On Saturday the Sounders played the ASE Shooting Stars to a scoreless tie. On Sunday morning the Sounders beat ASE Cabe 1-0, on a goal by McKenzie Mattis. Later on Sunday, the Sounders tied ASE Morgan 1-1. The lone goal for the Sounders was scored by Abbie Lyman.

BASEBALL

Future Viking day: The Coeur d'Alene High baseball program invites all local Little League players, coaches and volunteers to its "Future Viking" Day on Friday.

Coeur d'Alene is scheduled to host Post Falls in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. at Ted Page Field. Players and coaches will be recognized during the game.
