Strategies to make Coeur d'Alene a better place to live, work and play will highlight a presentation by Fred Kent, founder and president of the Project for Public Spaces, at noon, Nov. 5, at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn, 506 W. Appleway Ave., Coeur d'Alene.

Kent is an expert on placemaking, a common-sense approach which helps cities take advantage of existing assets to drive community and economic development. Public officials, city planners, community groups and transportation experts use placemaking principles to create and revitalize public places to attract entrepreneurs, businesses and workers.

The luncheon costs $15. Registration is required at idahohousing.com/keynote. For more information, call (208) 331-4743. The event is hosted by Idaho Housing and Finance Association and supported by Coeur d'Alene 2030, the city of Coeur d'Alene, the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce, the Coeur d'Alene Association of Realtors and the Lake City Development Corp.
