County to offer parking spaces to help with cost of fireworks

Kootenai County is once again lending the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce a hand for the Fourth of July.

The county plans to donate use of its north parking lot on Garden Avenue to the chamber during the Fourth of July festivities, Commissioner Dan Green confirmed on Monday.

The chamber can choose to charge for use of the 150-plus spaces, he said.

"We offer it to them to help the chamber with their fundraising," Green said of the donations that fund the annual fireworks display. "It's a way to help them generate funds for the fireworks everyone gets to enjoy."

The county did the same last year, he noted.

The commissioners will vote at their weekly business meeting today at 2 p.m. to enter an official agreement about the parking with the chamber.
