Account set up to help abused girls

A Coeur d’Alene man has set up a Christmas and birthday fund at U.S. Bank to help brighten the lives of the two little girls recently removed from the home of their mother, Elisabeth Crossley.

Mike Wimmer doesn’t know the twin girls, but he knew he had to do something to help the toddlers who will turn two on December 14.

“I’m one of thousands who want to help them, I’m sure,” Wimmer said. “Everybody in town is talking about these two girls. It just touched my heart what they went through.”

Anyone can make a donation at any U.S. Bank branch by letting the teller know it is “for the Crossley twins.”

Crossley was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of felony injury to a child for the treatment of the twin girls.

“Look what happened to them. Everybody always thinks someone else is doing something. I just wanted to make sure it was done,” Wimmer said.

He set the account up so the funds are accessible only to U.S. Bank personnel and whomever is providing shelter for the girls since their removal from the home.
