HAYDEN - An accident at U.S. 95 and Lancaster Road Monday afternoon resulted in two people being hospitalized with injuries.
Shawn L. Ward, 44, of Wilsonville, Ore.; and his passenger, Jessica C. Pleger, 34, of Coeur d'Alene were transported by helicopter and ambulance, respectively, to Kootenai Health in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision at 3:31 p.m., Idaho State Police reported.
Details about their injuries and an update of their conditions were unavailable late Monday.
Ward was driving a 2008 Mazda MZ3 north on U.S. 95 when he failed to stop for a red light, police reported. His vehicle was struck by a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser driven east on Lancaster by James D. Bobst, 66, of Hayden. Neither Bobst nor his passenger, 64-year-old Janet E. Bobst of Hayden, required transport to the hospital, police reported.
Following the collision, Ward's car came to rest in some bushes at the northeast corner of the intersection, police reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
