Walla Walla 4, Lumberjacks 1

SPOKANE - Walla Walla scored four runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-out, two-run double, to erase a 1-0 lead by Coeur d'Alene and beat the Lumberjacks 4-1 in the first round of the Washington 16-and-under state tournament Saturday at University High.

Elliot Sparks had two of the four hits by the Lumberjacks (22-8-1), who play Mt. Spokane today at 9 a.m. at U-Hi.

Loggers 10-18

Grangeville 5-6

GRANGEVILLE - J.J. Winger struck out nine and went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the first game, and Dan Bryant went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in the second game as the Coeur d'Alene Loggers swept a doubleheader against Grangeville.

Colton Gray had two RBIs in the first game and had two hits in the second for Coeur d'Alene (19-21, 9-12), which travels to St. Maries for a doubleheader today starting at 3 p.m.

Coeur d'Alene will return to St. Maries for the Area A District A tournament starting Thursday.
