Cd'A sacks alleged embezzler

COEUR d’ALENE — The city of Coeur d’Alene is terminating the female finance department employee suspected of embezzling city money.

City Attorney Mike Gridley said the employee will be terminated as of 5 p.m. The individual did not show up for a personnel meeting with department heads Monday. The meeting was scheduled to address the allegations that the woman stole city dollars.

“The result is that the employee is terminated as of 5 p.m. today,” Gridley said. “They had the hearing, the evidence was presented, she was not there.”

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said last week it will issue a press release if an arrest is made in the case.

The city will not release the employee's name.
