The architectural firm of Long-well + Trapp has been selected to develop the re-design plans for the second phase of the Coeur d'Alene School District's bond renovation which encompasses Borah, Bryan and Winton elementary schools.
The Hayden-based Longwell + Trapp is a regional professional design firm with more than 30 years of experience.
"This team is excited to work with us on our older elementary schools that are the most challenging," said Wendell Wardell, the district's chief operations officer.
Prior to being awarded the job, Longwell + Trapp competed against other qualified architectural firms, presenting quote proposals to a school district selection committee comprising central office administrators, school trustees and representatives from the business community.
"Longwell + Trapp's team clearly understands how we want to renovate our schools to modern standards while keeping elements of the character of our older school buildings," said Superintendent Hazel Bauman.
The board will confirm this architect selection and that of Architects West, selected earlier this month to renovate Canfield and Sorensen schools.
The architectural teams will begin developing detailed scopes of work and meet with the schools and construction committees made up of teachers and parents to develop plans for the school renovations. The plans will be presented for additional public input in early 2013.
