Grossman, a junior from Lake City High, was named the Frontier Conference women's cross country runner of the week after winning the Carroll College Early Bird Invitational on Friday in Helena, Mont., in a personal-best time of 14 minutes, 20 seconds in the 4-kilometer race

Montana cross country

Norris, a sophomore from Coeur d'Alene High, finished second in the men's Carroll College Early Bird Open Invitational on Friday. Norris finished the race in a time of 19:22.6 for the Grizzlies, who won the team title with 29 points.

Brandon Wood

Wood, a senior midfielder from Lake City High and North Idaho College, scored in the 51st minute of the Geoducks' 6-3 loss to Rocky Mountain College on Sept. 3 in Olympia, Wash. Wood has started two of three matches for the NAIA school (0-3).

Whitney Wood

Wood, a sophomore midfielder from Coeur d'Alene High, scored the game-winning goal for the Crusaders (3-1-0) in a 2-1 overtime win over the College of Idaho on Saturday in Nampa.

Shea Vucinich

Brevard County baseball

Vucinich, an infielder from Coeur d'Alene High and Washington State, finished the Class A Advanced Florida State League season with a .249 average (105 for 422) with 48 runs scored, 25 doubles and 50 runs batted in for Brevard County (63-72) in 122 games. Brevard County is an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kyle Johnson

Orem Owlz

Johnson, an outfielder from Lake City High and Washington State, finished the season with a .289 batting average (28 of 97) with six doubles and seven stolen bases in 33 games played. Orem, a rookie affiliate of the Anaheim Angels, finished the season 35-41.

Connor Williams

Whitworth football

Williams, a 6-foot-5 junior wide receiver from Coeur d'Alene High, caught a 63-yard touchdown pass in the Pirates' (2-0) 47-42 win at Whittier (Calif.) in a nonconference game on Saturday. It was his first catch of the season.

Jalana White



White, a 5-foot-11 junior outside hitter from Post Falls High, had 34 kills and 32 digs in three matches over the weekend for the Pirates (4-3) in the Whitworth Classic in Spokane.

Natalie Stewart

Carroll volleyball

Stewart, a senior setter from Coeur d'Alene High, had 15 assists for the Saints (10-5) in a 23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 loss at Montana State-Northern in a Frontier Conference match on Saturday in Havre, Mont. Stewart has a team-high 306 assists in 55 sets played this season.
