Idaho center tabbed for

Rimington watch list

NEW YORK - Idaho sophomore football player Mike Marboe was named to the 2012 preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy.

Marboe, from Wenatchee, Wash., started every game at center last season as a redshirt freshman, and emerged as a strong leader on the offensive line during the spring.

The award annually honors the nation's top center, based on the All-America team selections by the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America.

Marboe was honored in May on the spring watch list.

Idaho starts fall camp on Aug. 1 and opens the 2012 season on Aug. 30 at home against Eastern Washington at 6 p.m.

EWU to play Toledo

in football in 2013

Eastern Washington's football team will play its first 12-game regular season in school history when its visits the University of Toledo next season on Sept. 14, 2013.

The game will take place at the UT Glass Bowl, and is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.

Eastern will open the season at Oregon State on Aug. 31, then host Western Oregon at Roos Field on Sept. 7. Following Toledo, the Eagles will play at Sam Houston State on Sept. 28 before opening league play against Weber State on Oct. 5.

Eastern has never played its Big Sky opener later than Oct. 5, having also opened on that date in 2002.

"The opportunity to play 12 games gives us the chance to play a team such as Toledo," Eastern Washington athletic director Bill Chaves said. "In the way the Big Sky Conference schedule broke for us we had a number of open dates in September, and when this game presented itself, we took advantage of it."

Eastern has played just four times in school history in the Eastern time zone, and is 7-20 all-time against members of the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision.

Toledo is coming off a 9-4 season, including a 42-41 victory over Air Force in the Military Bowl.
