NIC to co-host NWAC softball championship event in Spokane

SPOKANE North Idaho College and the Community Colleges of Spokane, in partnership with the Spokane Sports Commission, will host the Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Championship, scheduled for Friday through Monday at Dwight Merkel Sports Complex at 5701 N. Assembly Street in Spokane.

The tournament will include 16 teams. North Idaho College (29-15) is seeded No. 11 and will play No. 6 seed Bellevue Community College (31-13) in the first round at 10 a.m. Friday, streamed live online.

Live coverage of all games played on Field 1 will be provided along with live stats of all games, brackets, and other information available at www.nwacsports.org/softball/championship.php

Douglas College (39-2) of New Westminister, British Columbia, is the No. 1 seed.

The opening round will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. Games start at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The championship game starts at 11 a.m. Monday.

An adult four-day pass costs $35, or $25 with a student/senior/military ID. Single-day admission is $15 for adults, $8 for students/seniors/military, $6 for children ages 7-12, and free for children 6 and younger.
