Bayley second at

Washington men’s Amateur

CLE ELUM, Wash. — Former Lakeland High and rising Washington State senior Derek Bayley shot a 71 in Wednesday’s second round of the Washington State men’s Amateur Championship, falling three strokes behind leader Joe Highsmith of Lakewood, Wash., at the Suncadia Resort’s Tumble Creek course.

Bayley, who was tied for the lead after the first round, has a two-day total of 138, trailing Highsmith, who shot a 65 in the second round to finish at 135.

Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake is tied for eighth with a two-round total of 143.

The event concludes today.

Vegas Golden Knights coming to Frontier Ice Arena

The NHL expansionVegas Golden Knights will caravan throught he northwest, with a public skate on Tuesday from 5:45 to 7 p.m. at Frontier Ice Arena in Coeur d’Alene.

Calvin Pickard, a goaltender for the team, is scheduled to appear.
