Boone County man arrested after SWAT team finds multiple firearms inside home

A Boone County man was arrested Wednesday morning after the Boone County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at a house on Demaret Drive.

Deputies took Lairree Hanton Jr., 38, into custody around 9:30 a.m. after witnessing him dispose of a 9 mm pistol outside of his apartment building, according to a department news release.

The SWAT Team also found an additional pistol, three rifles and ammunition in Hanton's apartment, according to the release.

Hanton, who was previously convicted of five felony charges prior to Wednesday's arrest, was taken to the Boone County Jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, with a bond of $22,500.

The convictions on Hanton's record date back to 2001 and include a charge of persistent driving while intoxicated, as well as driving under revocation, according to the release.
