The theme for this year's breakfast, which will mark its 25th anniversary, is "Forward in Unity: Embracing Our Beloved Community," according to a news release from the city of Columbia's Office of Cultural Affairs.

The event is scheduled for 7-8:45 a.m. Jan. 11 at the Holiday Inn Expo Center, 2200 I-70 Drive SW.

The deadline to register is 5 p.m. next Friday, Jan. 5. The cost is $17 per person, but scholarships are available upon request by calling the Office of Cultural Affairs at 573-874-7311.

A registration form is available on the city's website.

The program will include breakfast, live music and other performances, along with the presentation of the annual Columbia Values Diversity Awards. The keynote speaker is Kevin Powell, a writer and humanitarian who is president of BK Nation.
