Multiple times this season, Missouri women’s basketball coach Robin Pingeton has been asked how this year’s team stacks up against previous teams, and she’s consistently acknowledged the amount talent on her team.

“(This is) definitely one of the better teams we’ve had,” she said before the season opener.

Monday’s Associated Press Top 25 poll again reinforced that sentiment. The Tigers moved up one spot to No. 15, the highest ranking Missouri has held since 1984.

The bump comes one day after the Tigers beat Alabama 62-56 in their SEC opener. The victory extended Missouri’s winning streak to 13 games, tying the program record for consecutive wins.

Missouri wasn’t the only SEC team to improve its ranking — Texas A&M jumped three spots from No. 22 to No. 19 after defeating SMU 79-57 and dropping a close road game to South Carolina 61-59.

The Gamecocks continue to be one of the nation’s top teams — coming in at No. 4 in the poll — as does Mississippi State, which is ranked No. 5. Tennessee isn’t far behind, either, slotted at No. 7.

The Tigers (13-1) look to set a new program record for consecutive wins when they host LSU (9-3, 1-0) at 7 p.m. Thursday. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
