Fratelli's Salon prepares for its show on Friday featuring hair and makeup styles from New York
HAYDEN -- They'll be doin' the do here Friday, when Fratelli's Salon holds its Trends Fashion Show, featuring new styles in hair and makeup straight from The Big Apple.
"We went to New York a couple of weeks ago and studied under the trendsetters from Aveda during Fashion Week," said Anna Jessick, co-owner of the salon in the Prairie Shopping Center.
That show for professional stylists features the latest fall and winter styles, and Jessick and partner Kelli Cordon plan to bring the concept to the public to let them see for themselves not only what the styles are, but how they're done and modified for everyday wear.
Both men's and women's styles will be featured.
"We're revisiting the '80s, with a twist," Jessick said.
"Big hair is back again," Condon said.
Also the '60s, she said, with Beatles and military-style cuts.
"It definitely reminds me of the '60s," Cordon said, with variations on close-cropped trims.
Color technology is going the way of multiple versions of monochrome colors, "melted" down the hair shaft, Cordon said.
From noon to 3 p.m., 12 to 15 models will be having their hair styled for the show, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs three sessions until about 8 p.m.
The public is invited to come in and watch the styling in progress and the free style show, which will include makeup demonstrations.
Lengthy processes such as perms won't be done, but with naturally curly returning as a popular trend, there will be demonstrations of styles for those with that characteristic.
Students from several area styling schools also will be visiting to see the new fashions.
The salon has instructors who teach at some of the schools, and has its own training academy in-house.
Also offered will be the dos and don'ts of 'dos, with information on products and maintenance of hair.
Fratelli Salon will also have an open house at its new location in the former Weldon Barber site at 247 Sunset Ave. on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
