COEUR d'Alene -- Tammy Christofson was behind the counter at the Kathleen Chevron Monday afternoon when a customer came in -- through the window, along with his truck.
"It was like a big boom," she said.
The green 1999 Ford Ranger ran over two tables and four chairs before the shelves finally stopped it.
Christofson said only a handful of people were inside the store, 3840 N. Government Way, at the time and none were sitting at the tables by the window.
"Any other day but today, there would have been people at those tables," she said.
There were no injuries.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood said Nathaniel Ruth, 20, of Post Falls, jumped the curb in front of the store and smashed through the window at about 1 p.m.
"The driver said he pushed the brake all the way to the floor but it didn't stop," Wood said.
The truck was estimated to be doing about 5 mph.
Christofson and other employees swept up the glass and put up yellow caution tape until the window could be replaced.
Wood said the driver was not cited and the investigation is complete.
"There's no reason to think it happened any other way than how he happened," Wood said.
