John ‘Jack’ William Crowley, 84

John “Jack” William Crowley, 84, resident of Hayden passed away Sept. 7, 2008, in Coeur d’Alene. He was born March 22, 1924, in Coeur d’Alene to William and Edytha Crowley. John married Shirlee Ellern on June 10, 1959, in Spokane.

John earned a Doctorate of Education and was a Superintendent of Schools in both Oregon and Idaho. He retired from the public school system in 1986.

He was a member of the Rotary, Elks and Oregon School Administrators. John enjoyed fishing, ATV riding, boating, reading and travel.

John is survived by his wife, Shirlee Crowley at their home in Hayden; son Paul Crowley and wife Lien of Wilsonville, Ore.; brother Pat Crowley and his wife Nancy of Seattle; sisters Norma Blessing of Coeur d’Alene, Margaret Hoffman and her husband Milton also of Coeur d’Alene; one grandson Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters Mary Crowley and Catherine George.

Viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene.

Memorial services will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at St. Pius Catholic Church, Coeur d’Alene, with Father Roger LaChance officiating. Final resting place will be St. Thomas Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene.
