Lake City sweeps

COEUR d'ALENE --

Hilary Ayers had nine kills, 13 assists, four aces and eight digs for Lake City in a 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 win over Coeur d'Alene in a 5A Region 1 tournament loser-out match Tuesday night at Lake City High School.

"We played really well tonight," Lake City coach Bret Taylor said. "We attacked the ball really well in the beginning and served really well."

MacKenzie Brown had 13 digs, Jennifer Schuman eight kills and Camille Rounds 11 assists for Lake City (13-15).

Randi Spencer had 10 digs, Kylie Curtis nine kills for Coeur d'Alene, which finished 2-22.

Lake City will travel to Post Falls on Saturday. in the region second-place match for a berth to the state tournament.

Lakeside d. Wallace

PLUMMER -- Ruth Brunelle had 12 kills and nine digs in Lakeside's 25-10, 22-25, 25-13, 25-16 1A District 1 Division I play-in win over Wallace.

Jaycee Goudy had 11 kills, Joelle Miller added 10 for Lakeside (9-4).

"Jaycee and Joelle just played well tonight," Lakeside coach Jen Mitchell said.

Lakeside will face the third-place team from District 2 on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a 1A state play-in game. The site is still to be determined.

Timberlake drops two at tri-match

PRIEST RIVER -- Timberlake's Sierra Monti totaled 18 kills, seven digs and four blocks in a tri-match against Priest River and Clark Fork.

Timberlake (12-16, 3-7 IML) dropped its first match 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 to Priest River in an Intermountain League match. The Tigers also fell to Clark Fork 25-17, 25-15, 20-25, 15-25, 15-12 in nonleague play.

Timberlake faces Bonners Ferry in a 3A District 1-2 match Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Lakeland High.

N.I Christian vs. Christian Ctr., ppd.

HAYDEN -- The game between North Idaho Christian and Christian Center was postponed due to illness on the visiting team.

The game has been rescheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. at North Idaho Christian.

• COLLEGE GOLF

Burke sets school record for Cards

ROSYLN, Wash. -- Cardinal golfer Ashley Burke shot a 79 on the final day of the two-day Central Washington Invitational at the Suncadia Resort Prospector Course, setting a school record in the final match of the fall season.

NIC's women placed second in the seven-team field with a 508, finishing behind Community Colleges of Spokane at 493.

Chad Smith shot a 153 over two rounds to finish as the low scorer for the Cardinal men's team, which took fifth in the nine-team field.
