BUZZ: Act, don’t complain

Print Article

The article about the local GOP by Ms. Petersen should have been on the editorial page as it was mostly opinion.

It is often common to pick on success. For many years the Kootenai County Republican Party was controlled by those who were more liberal. They believed in a larger role for government. Today that role has changed, yet some are not happy about our current direction.

If you complain, then demonstrate where the local party is violating the Idaho Republican Party Platform, the Idaho Constitution, or the Federal Constitution. The Democrats complain because few get elected to office, but few even run for office.

After the Central Committee became more conservative the more liberal members of the Central Committee quit coming. Now, you cannot affect policy if you do not stay in touch.

Being on the Central Committee is a lot of work. Going door to door and passing out literature for other candidates. So those on the Central Committee have earned the position. Kootenai County has done more to help elect state officers and supports the State Party more than many other counties. It has not always been that way, and present leadership is a large reason it is so.

The goal of the Central Committee is “Make America Great Again Starting With Idaho.” Why not be a part of that and stop complaining.
