BERGDAHL: Ruling was fair

Print Article

I’m sure many are appalled by the judge’s ruling regarding Bowe Bergdahl. I happened to find extreme satisfaction in the sentence.

The judge must know his history. The court system is the last bastion of justice when it comes to animus and bias falsely directed at the accused.

Most news stories describe the soldiers who died heroically searching for Bergdahl.

What they don’t describe is why would Bowe leave the safety of the base in the first place?

According to his accounts, there were problems at the base he couldn’t resolve. Of course we find that unusual in a nation with a politically correct standing army.

Let’s not fool ourselves. From the slaughter of civilians in Vietnam to the unprecedented use of drone strikes today, we as a nation are doing the things we claim we’re against.

Rather than justify military dominance of the world, we persecute those opposed to it with the full force of the law. As an American, I hope our future won’t be the same as the past empires.
