COURT: Deadly double standard

Print Article

First I want to say my heart truly goes out to the family and friends of Sgt. Moore! Not surprised by the death penalty received by Jonathon Renfro. We all know if anyone kills a cop, the death penalty will undoubtedly be given.

I fail to understand why Joseph Davis only received a life sentence (with the possibility of parole after 15 years) for killing a defenseless 17-month-old little boy.

Our judicial system gives preferential treatment for police officers killed in the line of duty, knowing that when they choose this career, that there is that risk, but a 17-month-old baby being murdered does not mean so much to our courts.
