TAXES: Follow the money

Print Article

I agree with all the people who are on Social Security, own their own home and have to pay for school taxes with no children in school. As Sundayís editorial said, next time, if you feel that strongly about the unfairness of school levies imposed on senior citizens, then vote NO on the levies. I would like to see the schoolsí sports budget. Travel, lodging, meals and equipment, including weight-room expenses are a big chunk of every schoolís budgets. Is that all necessary?

Also, how is Trumpís big tax cut going to help the people who depend on Social Security? Where is our (Social Security recipients) extra $4,000 a year? When they start to cut our Social Security and Medicare benefits to give more money to the rich, then we all should subtract that amount from our local taxes. Then maybe the state of Idaho will be forced to give the schools their fair share, making the need for additional levies unnecessary.

Snarkily, I would like to know if Trumpís great Christmas present to the middle class will include Vaseline or do we have to buy that ourselves? Trump says (just another lie) that he will be killed financially by this tax cut. Now, how will we know this unless he shows us his tax returns and proves it? Ha, good luck with that.
