SHOW: Missed opportunity

Print Article

The Traditions of Christmas show at the Kroc Center, produced by Laura Little Theatricals, was once again a super production, except for one thing. While it’s great that each branch of the military is recognized and honored, Ms. Little inexplicably refuses to honor Gold Star families, who have lost a loved one while defending this great nation. When Ms. Little accidentally called me, I seized the opportunity to offer to write a short couple of lines to insert for the narrator at the beginning of Act II, where veterans are honored. Ms. Little replied that she had no time for this, thank you, and hung up on me. What a nice lady, so full of Christmas joy and goodwill to men!

Those of you who know me can attest to one thing, if anything: I love our country, having served over 20 years in the Navy, and I have the greatest respect for Gold Star families and combat veterans. If anyone deserves to be recognized and honored, it’s Gold Star moms and dads. I hate to call her out like this, but this is too important to dismiss, and she’s had ample opportunity to do the right thing. You must follow your hearts and I mine; therefore, I will no longer contribute to her coffers. More to come…
