COEUR d’ALENE — Best-selling author Carla Fine will speak about suicide survival during a presentation Friday at the Kootenai Health Resource Center.

Fine, author of "No Time to Say Goodbye: Surviving the Suicide of a Loved One" and co-author of "Touched by Suicide; Hope and Healing After Loss," will shed light on surviving suicide as she speaks about the overwhelming feelings of confusion, guilt, sadness, anger and loneliness that are shared by all survivors.

These feelings are felt by family, loved ones and friends and can extend to co-workers, fellow students and even first responders. Suicide touches people's lives across generations, creating an unparalleled legacy of pain, mystery and loss.

Fine lectures extensively to suicide survivors' groups and professional organizations around the world. She offers compassionate guidance for anyone affected by suicide from the dual perspectives of both a survivor and a mental health professional.

The free presentation, "Letting Go of the Silence," will be held in the Ponderosa Room at 1 p.m. It is hosted by the Suicide Prevention Action Network in collaboration with the Region 1 Behavioral Health Board.

The Kootenai Health Resource Center is located at 2003 Kootenai Health Way in Coeur d'Alene.
