Drop a few pounds.

Save a few bucks.

Do some good deeds.

Resolutions run the gamut for most of us, and while many of our best intentions have merit, they’re generally self-centered. This year we took a little different approach to the time-honored tradition of making positive changes in the new year.

We caught up with some Kootenai County residents and asked them to list one new year’s resolution for the whole nation. Here’s what folks had to say:

“I wish that we would all love one another and be honest. Also, stop unnecessary spending to help balance the budget.”

Raymond J. Writz,

Coeur d’Alene

“We need to get out of Trump’s way, for obvious reasons.”

Greg Nearpass,

Coeur d’Alene

“I think we should impeach Trump. Also, everyone should go vegan or vegetarian, and we should meditate and do yoga.”

Joey Toffey,

Coeur d’Alene

“I wish for everyone to be kind and nice to each other.”

Chloe Hubbard,

Coeur d’Alene

“To share love.”

Jesse Walker,

Coeur d’Alene

“To look for the best in each other.”

Mary Rogers,

Coeur d’Alene

“For the peace that passes all understanding.”

Beth Rich Brown,

Post Falls

“That we continue on the moral and economic incline that was started in 2017.”

Tammy Hast,

Hayden
