Isenberg

By PRESS STAFF

COEUR d’ALENE — Larry D. Isenberg remained missing Tuesday evening, hours after he was reported to have fallen into Lake Coeur d’Alene near Powderhorn Bay.

“At 10:25 a.m., the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Laurcene B. Isenberg stating that Larry D. Isenberg had fallen into the lake while attempting to repair a problem with one of the motors on the boat they were in,” said Sheriff Ben Wolfinger, in a news release sent out shortly before 3 p.m. “Laurcene attempted for some time to locate Larry on her own without success.”

Laurcene, also known as Lori, is Larry Isenberg’s wife.

The Press reported Tuesday morning, hours before Larry went missing, that Lori is no longer employed by the North Idaho Housing Coalition, a nonprofit she led since its inception in 2009. It was also reported the organization is conducting an internal financial audit in search of accounting irregularities, and that the result of that audit could possibly lead to a law enforcement investigation.

Larry Isenberg, a forest-industry veteran, is now retired, according to his Facebook page.

He was previously employed as a project manager for Fire Smart, a program offered by Kootenai County’s Office of Emergency Management that helps property owners protect their homes and businesses from wildfire. It is funded by grants from state and federal agencies.

The Isenbergs own homes in the Cougar Gulch area and Rathdrum, according to the county assessor’s office.

The Sheriff’s Office’s rescue dive team searched Tuesday for Larry Isenberg, with assistance from East Side Fire District.

As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, no other details were released by the Sheriff’s Office.
