Man sentenced in sexual abuse case

HAYDEN — A man who pleaded guilty to having an ongoing sexual relationship with his teen daughter will spend at least 12 years in prison.

Christopher M. Schreiber, 45, of Hayden, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of injury to a child. He also pleaded guilty to a separate aggravated assault charge.

The charges stem from January 2020, when police responded to a domestic disturbance in which Schreiber allegedly threatened his teen daughter with a knife.

Police arrested Schreiber at the scene.

The teen later contacted police and said her father had manipulated her into having sex with him, beginning when she was 13 years old.

She said the abuse continued for several years and included two assaults that reportedly occurred in August 2019 in Hayden.

When questioned by police, Schreiber reportedly denied having sex with his daughter.

He later pleaded guilty to amended charges as part of a pretrial settlement offer.

Judge Cynthia Meyer sentenced Schreiber last week to 10 years fixed on each count of injury to a child, to be served concurrently.

She sentenced Schreiber to two years fixed and five years indeterminate on the aggravated assault charge, to be served consecutively to the other charges.

Judge Meyer also issued a 27-year no contact order between Schreiber and his daughter.
