COEUR d’ALENE — A woman is being held on $40,000 bail after police said she committed her third DUI offense.

Nicole M. Urdahl, 36, of Hayden, is charged with driving under the influence, a felony. She is also charged with possessing an open container, a misdemeanor.

Idaho State Police initiated a traffic stop in Hayden around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver, identified as Urdahl, allegedly said she had an alcoholic beverage about three hours before.

An open, canned alcoholic beverage was wedged between the driver’s seat and center console, police said.

A search of the vehicle also allegedly yielded a bottle of whiskey with a broken seal.

Urdahl reportedly provided a breath sample of 0.18. In Idaho, a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or more is considered impaired.

Police arrested Urdahl at the scene.

Judge John Cafferty ordered Thursday that Urdahl be held on $40,000 bail.

Urdahl was previously convicted of driving under the influence in Spokane County in 2014 and 2016, according to court documents.

A third DUI violation within 10 years is a felony punishable by up to a decade in prison.
