Girl, 3, found after wandering from home

A naked 3-year-old child was found alone and playing in a park Saturday after she wandered away from her Post Falls home while her mother slept.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, a neighbor saw the girl playing in an apartment complex park on a 41-degree, windy day about 4 p.m.

Deputies arrived and after about an hour-long search, found the girl’s mom at home.

KCSO said the mother works graveyard shifts and had fallen asleep “when the little girl snuck out of the house” by opening the door.

No charges were filed, but a report was completed to document the incident.

"Deputies provided information on how to better secure the residence with the mother," KCSO reported.
