Earth Day event focuses on growth, sustainability

| April 14, 2021 1:00 AM

Civic Engagement Alliance is hosting an “Earth Day Community Conversation on Sustainability & Growth” at noon on Thursday, April 22, at McEuen Park picnic shelter.

Multiple small group dialogues will be guided by a series of questions deep-diving into the pressing issue of rapid growth in Kootenai County and its impact on sustainability: environmental conservation, living wage jobs, housing, land use and quality of life. The event is sponsored by the Human Rights Education Institute and a partner activity of Earth Week.

Civic Engagement Alliance aims to create a positive platform where open, civil dialogue can occur between community leaders, citizens and local groups. The intent of the conversation is not to solve any problems or come to conclusions, but rather, to encourage productive dialogue and build relationships.

Event organizers encourage local groups and citizens who are passionate about managing growth and conserving natural resources in Kootenai County to participate and share information about their action items in building a sustainable community.

Light refreshments will be available. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch. Registration is strongly recommended at: www.civicengagecda.com/sustainable-community
