One dies in U.S. 95 crash

One person died and two were hurt in a two-car collision on U.S. 95 in Athol on Tuesday, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to a press release, initial reports indicated a vehicle crossed the center median and struck another vehicle about 3 p.m. near milepost 449.

One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Two occupants were transported to Kootenai Health with non-life threatening injuries.

KCSO’s Traffic Investigation Team and the Detective Division responded to the accident, as did fire and medical from Timberlake Fire and Northern Lakes Fire districts.

One southbound lane was closed due to the crash and investigation.

The names of the occupants involved were not released as family had not been notified, the press release said.
