Verna passed away peacefully on April 10, 2021, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with family by her side. She was 87 years old. Verna was originally from the Oakland, Calif., area and grew up there as one of six children. Verna is survived by her sister, Carol, who resides in California, and brother, Larry, in Missouri.

Verna married her high school sweetheart, Wallace, and remained married 57 years until his death in 2009.

Verna and Wallace had four children: Delynne, Suzanne, Mark and Richard. As a family they enjoyed snow skiing at Lake Tahoe, camping trips to Yosemite, boating, and attending the boys’ sports activities. Verna was a dedicated wife and mother and pursued a career in the banking and lending field, becoming a supervisor. At retirement, Wallace and Verna made the move to the Coeur d’Alene area in order to spend time with family.

Verna was always close to her beloved pets; in recent years Maxie and Kodiak went to heaven, leaving behind her babies, Biff and Ginger. Verna loved her friends, “The Lunch Bunch” and their outings on a regular basis.

Verna leaves behind her children, Delynne Rogers (John) from Ukiah, Calif.; Suzanne from Spring, Texas; Mark (Kim) from Vancouver, Wash.; and Richard (Christine) from Rathdrum, Idaho; grandchildren, Kirsten Bishop (Brian), Sean Rogers, Natasha Hansen (Adam), Ashleigh Anderson (Nathan), Deborah Carpenter (Lee), Brittany Anderson, Stephen Kleinen, Natalie Anderson and Clayton Anderson. Verna was a great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.

Verna had many friends, but she was especially close to Carolyn Weisenburger, Dorothy Kramer and Jeannie and Sam Logozzo. The family extends their gratitude for the kindness given to our mother and their support to us as well.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2021, at Yates Funeral Home-Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, Verna would love your support through a donation to the Kootenai Humane Society, 11650 N. Ramsey Road, Hayden, ID 83835.
