The North Idaho College Board of Trustees will meet today at 1 p.m. to authorize a presidential search and appoint an acting president, according to an NIC press release.

The meeting follows a 3-2 vote on Wednesday to terminate former college President Rick MacLennan without cause. MacLennan was ordered to leave campus by end of day Thursday, bringing an abrupt halt to his five-year term.

Board chair Todd Banducci and Trustees Michael Barnes and Greg McKenzie voted to oust MacLennan, while Christie Wood and Ken Howard voted against.

Lita Burns, vice president for instruction, was voted in by the board as acting president once MacLennan’s contract was terminated.

Today's agenda calls for an executive session at the start of the meeting. New business after reconvening in public includes action items for designating/appointing an acting president and authorizing a presidential search and search parameters, followed by another possible executive session.

The meeting will be held in person only. It's scheduled for the Edminster Student Union Building, Driftwood Bay Room on the NIC main campus.
