POST FALLS — Prairie Falls Golf Course recently switched drivers.

Owners Rob and Emily Clark purchased it Aug. 2 and have big plans for the community course, which opened in 1998.

The 18-hole, 6,550-yard course will be enhanced with a pro shop, bar, restaurant and virtual golf center.

The Clarks plan to continue the course’s history of being a community venue, taking over for Billy Bomar, a PGA member who had owned Prairie Falls since 2014.

“We just want to take this golf course to the next level,” Rob said. “We are bringing in more amenities for our neighbors, the people in Post Falls.”

The plan is to have the new additions “up and running by the middle of next summer,” he said. “We really want it to be a year-round business. Having the restaurant and bar will make the course more sustainable.”

Visitors can golf all year, weather permitting. Greens supervisors assess weather conditions and, as long as no damage will be caused to the turf, the course will be open, Rob said.

No extended closures are expected during construction.

The Clarks owned The Sawmill Grill and Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls. Owning a golf course is a new venture for them. They didn’t have experience with restaurants or funeral homes either, but both business ventures were successful, he said.

They hosted their first charity golf tournament Friday to benefit Newby-ginnings Veterans Services of Post Falls. With a nod to Oktoberfest, brats and burgers were served.

In the past, the Clarks have raised money to benefit the Post Falls Senior Center and STEM Charter Academy. They plan to make the charity golf tournament at the end of September an annual event, Rob said.

Prairie Falls Golf Course is open at 8 a.m. daily until dark. This time of year, the last tee time is about 4 p.m.

The course is located at 3200 N. Spokane St.
