POST FALLS - A 26-year-old man was arrested following a reported home invasion and robbery in Post Falls.

According to a press release, a resident in the 3200 block of East First Street called Post Falls police and said a man wearing a ski mask and carrying an object had entered their home about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man demanded money and cell phones and then fled the scene, the release said.

While investigating the initial call, police responded to another call for a burglary in progress and found the suspect at a nearby residence. He was arrested and identified as Brandon Jarvis, reportedly a transient, the release said.

He was in possession of a wallet discovered to be stolen property from one of the houses burglarized, according to court documents. Several items believed to be stolen in recent auto burglaries were also recovered.

Police investigators reported finding footprints in the snow around the residences that were burglarized and identified them as matching the shoes worn by Jarvis.

Jarvis was transported to Kootenai County jail on charges that include robbery, burglary, grand theft and several misdemeanors, the release said.

His criminal history dates back to 2014 with burglary and assault convictions, according to the press release.

An investigation continues.
