Flying high in Hayden

HAYDEN — More than 100 people turned out for the annual Hayden Kite Festival on Saturday at Broadmoore Park.

"It started out as a beautiful day to fly a kite," a press release said. "Even when the wind and rain blew through, families continued flying their kites, and there were lots of winners."

Certificates and kites were presented to winners of the following categories:

Best of Show: Andrew Stratton

Best Homemade: Josef Zielinski

Longest Tail: Samuel Monter

High Flyer: Alexander Monter

Crash & Burn: Chase Cross

Judges’ Pick: Ariana Monter

Best Effort: Ireland Sullivan

Kite Raffle Winners: Olive Buttice, Angela Sattler, Katen Snyder, Kimberly S., Nikki Casebier, Emily Snyder, Zoey Nuszkiewicz, Garrett Sampsel, Baldwin Li and Josie Zielinski.

The festival is put on by the city of Hayden Recreation and Community Events Department along with STCU.
