Peterson obtains Accredited Advisor of Insurance Designation

Scott Peterson recently obtained his Accredited Advisor of Insurance Designation by successfully completing a 30 week course sponsored by Liberty Northwest Insurance. Topics covered included: Commercial general liability, Commercial auto, Commercial crime insurance, Professional liability, Commercial property, Workers' compensation and Surety bonds. Peterson is employed by Harris/Dean Western States Insurance in Coeur d'Alene.

NIC selects Lita Burns as new vice president for instruction

North Idaho College has selected internal candidate Lita Burns, Ph.D., as its new vice president for instruction. Burns, who currently serves as dean of Health Professions and Nursing, will begin her new role Aug. 27.

"Lita is well-prepared to take on the challenges and opportunities we'll face in the near and long term and I couldn't be more pleased to have her as a member of this team as we move forward," said NIC President Joe Dunlap, Ed.D.

Burns was selected to fill the position vacated by Jay Lee, who accepted a job as president of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.

Burns has led NIC's Health Professions and Nursing Division since 2001: first as director and most recently as dean.

Before working at NIC, Burns was a division chair of Allied Health, an associate professor at Central Wyoming College, a registered nurse at Columbia Riverton Memorial Hospital in Wyoming and a nursing director at The Children's Hospital in Denver, among other professional activities.

Staffing company Command Center has plans to expand

Post Falls-based Command Center, a provider of on-demand and temporary staffing solutions, recently or has plans to open seven new branch offices in six states.

The branch offices are located in Billings, Mont.; Grand Forks, N.D.; Chandler, Ariz., Griffith, Ind., Baton Rouge and New Orleans, La.; and Landover, Md.

With the new locations, the company will own and operate 60 stores in 24 states.

"These new store openings are strategic in that they resulted from the need to service existing customer orders in areas which are also excellent locations for marketing Cornmand's services to other local businesses," said Command's Chairman and CEO Glenn Welstad.

Northwest MedStar transport system earns re-accreditation

Northwest MedStar, a regional critical care transport program, has received re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.

Northwest MedStar has received CAMTS accreditation continuously since 1996.

The accreditation process involves an on-site survey and a review of all aspects of the operation.

As one of 149 CAMTS-accredited emergency transport services in the country, Northwest MedStar averages 3,500 transports per year, including helicopter, fixed-wing and ground transport.
