Former Kootenai County Clerk Dan English is planning to run for election to one of the state legislative seats in the newly formed District 2.

He has not yet announced which position he will seek.

"One of my primary motivations in running is to give people of District 2, formerly District 3, a choice on the November ballot no matter who else might be on the ballot," English wrote, in a message sent to The Press.

"In doing some research into past elections in this district, I found that the voters have not had an actual choice on the ballot for a full decade when JoAnn Harvey ran against Kent Bailey for Senate in 2002. I feel our elected representatives should represent all of the voters not just one party or viewpoint exclusively."

Regarding the quality of your comments one has to assume you have contributed greatly to the riches of the city and county. Thank you. One concludes you must be real lookers too.

Yes, Thaddeus, we understand how upset you and others were when this seemingly bullet-proof charm fell from your bracelet. Your greater problem is that he wasn't just another shiny bauble. He was the clasp that kept the bracelet secure...... and it just is not that secure any longer.

All is right in the world when one can come on to a thread like this and see that the "Gutter Snipe" are in full attack mode.

    You're kidding, right?
English, Adam Johnson, Phil Hart, Mayor Bloem should all star in a video "Narcissist's Gone Wild"

Given his record of substandard performance as County Clerk and the very clear appearance of adhering to influential elected allegiances Mr. English needs to not be part of any governing body whether as an employee or elected representative. On the other hand, he looks to have an excellent career path in advertising, for geriatric and Alzheimer's products and services.

The perfect quality in an Elected Official.

    No humility.

What other profession has people with the personality quirk that they can be publicly exposed for incompetence and/or misbehavior, but can keep smiling and standing in front of people as though
    things never occurred?

99% of people would not want to be seen much in public after being exposed, let alone put themselves out in front of people intentionally, but these types just keep plodding along in total oblivion and/or arrogance.

The sad thing is, they usually perpetually keep on feeding from the publicly funded trough and make more than most of us ever dream of.

Just what we need, more of the same "good ole boy cronyism".

Dan, are you going to run so that you can turn your head on the state level now? Occupy ANOTHER position without providing over site to those under you? (Shaking my head in disbelief) I hear the Legislature has even MORE video games on their computers than the county did.

NO THANKS We already have enough people that do not do their jobs on the government dole.

That voting mess was enough to convince me that this man either was corrupt or oversaw a very inept operation.

I'm pretty convinced it was the latter.

Lets not forget the years of money skimming by one of his top deputies - right under his nose.

So, if it is ineptness, he ought to make a dandy legislature.

In fact he might just be overqualified!

On another matter I would ask the management of the CDA Press to establish and enforce guidelines for acceptable participation on this blog and permanently remove those that don't adhere to the standard.

I was hoping Dan would have chosen to run for a commissioners seat where the results of his efforts were more readily visible but will support any choice he makes. His commitment to the community speaks for itself and I would ask everyone that demands devoted, honest leadership to support him.

Dan how did it happen that everyone did not have the opportunity to cast a vote to have their voices heard? You were in charge of the elections during that time period.

Good luck Dan. It's looking like you weren't so bad in your last job. We do need a choice and a change in Idaho politics.
