A Post Falls man was injured and southbound U.S. 95 was blocked for two hours this morning when his vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of U.S. 95 and State Highway 53.
Kyle Cox, 25, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup southbound on U.S. 95 approaching the intersection when, according to a report from Idaho State Police: "For unknown reasons, Cox did not see the traffic signal that was red."
Cox's vehicle collided with the the semitrailer as it was turning northbound from Highway 53 onto U.S. 95. The crash occurred at 3:44 a.m.
Cox was transported to Kootenai Medical Center where he remains in fair condition.
Donald Bauer, 56, of Spokane, the driver of the Freightliner semitrailer, was not injured.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 95 were blocked until 5:45 a.m.
The ISP report indicates a citation was issued, but no other details about the citation are available at this time.
