WORLEY - Officers from the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police Department, in conjunction with U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, arrested a Washington man wanted for first-degree assault and first-degree robbery on Tuesday.

Arthur Frank Cardenas, of Moses Lake, was spotted at the Coeur d'Alene Casino early Tuesday morning by a casino security officer. The officer requested a tribal officer for assistance, while casino surveillance tracked Cardenas back to his hotel room via surveillance camera.

The Tribal Police contacted the U.S. Marshals for assistance in the apprehension of Cardenas, and the two agencies cooperated in the arrest.

"I'm very proud of our guys and appreciative to the U.S. Marshals for their cooperation," said Coeur d'Alene Tribe Police Chief Cody SiJohn.

Cardenas was considered armed and dangerous when the Tribal Police and U.S. Marshals apprehended him at the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

Cardenas had outstanding warrants in Adams County for the beating of a victim.

Tribal Police officers found drugs and weapons in the room where Cardenas and his associates were staying. In addition to Cardenas, four others were arrested and taken into custody on charges related to illegal drugs and weapons found in the room.

The investigation is ongoing. SiJohn anticipates additional charges as a result of the investigation.
