Two people were killed in a crash on Interstate 90 in Shoshone County just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
Melissa Conners, 32, of Osburn, and Shannon Wheeler, 38, of Silverton, died after colliding head-on with another vehicle. The Idaho State Police reported that Connors was driving west in the eastbound lanes in a 1999 Hyundai Accent at milepost 49 near Kellogg when she struck a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Buffie McMahon, 40, of Tucson, Ariz. Conners and Wheeler were not wearing seat belts and were pronounced dead at the scene.
McMahon and her two passengers, 20-year-old Cherokee Bresetee of Paso Robles, Calif., and 17-year-old Matthew Shubert Jr., hometown unknown, were taken to Kootenai Health. Bresetee was wearing a seat belt. Authorities said it is unknown whether McMahon and Shubert were wearing seat belts.
Motorcyclist killed in crash
MOSCOW (AP) - Idaho State Police said a man died after losing control of his motorcycle.
Police said 53-year-old Jeffry H. Muir of Moscow was traveling west on State Highway 8 on a 2011 Harley Davidson Fatboy about 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Police said Muir attempted to pass a vehicle but failed to negotiate a curve and went of the south edge of the highway.
Muir was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.
Police said he wasn't wearing a helmet.
Auction set for Hoku plant
POCATELLO (AP) - An auction for the Hoku Materials Plant is set for Oct. 23 and 24.
San Diego, Calif.-based Heritage Global Partners has been contracted as the seller for the auction.
The company on its website touts global interest in the $600 million facility that can either be purchased by the piece or in its entirety.
