Harris: ULUC opposition is unprincipled

From relentlessly sunny Southern California, I noted the recent and growing uproar over Kootenai County’s land use code re-write. And from here, where the sprawl goes on and on and on for miles, the growing opposition to Kootenai County’s Unified Land Use Code (ULUC) project appears to be either pointlessly obstructionist or appallingly uninformed. Either way, if the opponents were truly interested in property rights and regulatory streamlining, they’d be supporting the County’s reform efforts.

Ignoring the completely nutty “U.N. Agenda 21″ conspiracy theorists, the ULUC opposition appears to be based primarily in a “property rights” viewpoint that ignores both the law and the policy choices that guide modern land use across the country. Despite the bluster coming from the usual North Idaho know-it-alls, “property rights” are simply not absolute. In fact, property rights of individuals are balanced to protect the property values in the community.

We don’t allow pig farms in downtown Coeur d’Alene — OMG! Regulations! — but there are obvious and legitimate reasons for this. The simple purpose of the ULUC is to provide a framework for land use fairness, where everyone — property owners AND their neighbors — have a codification of both their property rights AND their responsibilities, for everyone’s protection. HOW, "florist", do you think that this doesn't DRIP with "conspiracy theory"?
"Cd'A to Canada is "Superhighway" fodder now, and investors are scrambling for the property that is adjacent"
Based on WHAT do you make this ASSumption? Oh, but it's NOT a conspiracy theory....

"It's no wonder our local leadership is doing all this hand wringing and visionary back patting...anyone with any common sense can see where the special interest has it's sights set on"...
Nope, no conspiracy theory here either, just pure facts.....NOT.

They've been plotting the GARVEE for over 10 years...I never mentioned conspiracy theories, you did, Joe. Schneidmiller is your biggest obstacle and even an historic hundred year old barn won't help.

    "Low blow?
YOU said that there's this big conspiracy theory, that developers are snatching up land....and I said you're wrong. That's a "low blow"?

    Don't think so.

Harris, take everything you wrote right back to California, people like you are what is bad for North Idaho AND her citizenry. You are for just about everythign that is anti-human, and certainly anti personal & property RIGHTS.
The KEA as an organization is patently BAD for North Idaho, all you had to do is say you had anything to do with them, and I am INSTANTLY against most anything that comes from your snout.

All this from a former headknodding member for the advisory committee to the ULUC,Todd Messenger, and currently residing in California. Of course the environmentalists would want 90% of the population herded into the cities and "let the rest of the landscape be left to be enjoyed by those who ""know how to enjoy it.""

There is no relentlessly sunny CA, anywhere in the failed state where the Mexican flag flies.

nwo has got it. Your appeal to reform efforts is like talking to chickens of "regulatory streamlining" at the Colonel Sanders' Chicken Farm. He determines the parameters. He builds the fences. He decides when and how much of this and that, how much to drink, how much dirt to scratch, how fast they grow and when to depart.

Your conspiracy theory filth, flies in the face of other realities, like the "stoning" of Christians in Dearborn, MI, just days ago. Muslims blocking streets in NYC, praying, overflowing their mosque, demanding the government to change the traffic flows, change ticket policy, disregard for business complaints, extra law enforcement, altering traffic lights. You would not know nutty if the squirrels were hunting your down for winter. Musllims taking over France, the Netherlands, nonsense, conspiracy c.rap, you say. Fascism pushing us hard, already, here, today, and you can't even stand to p.ee like a man. Take your little reporting job to CA, and work for La Raza, and hasta la pasta, Don Pipi.

"opposition appears to be based primarily in a “property rights” viewpoint that ignores both the law and the policy choices that guide modern land use across the country". You don't even realize that the country is the farm. That law and policy is the nutty thing, and the chickens are learning to realize that the Colonel is bent on "fixing" things. You mend his fences. You report on how often they cluck, how many steps in any direction, how high they jump, and shouldn't they be happy? There is, after all, a web site and comment section. Their viewpoint can be heard. You do report things. Stupid chickens.

People advocating Agenda 21 ARE nutty. From the nutty UN’s own web site http://www.un.org/esa/dsd/agenda21/

“Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment.”

KEA "protects" the environment from the impact of humans.

Nutty conspiracy? OK Terry, if you say so……..

Is this news MikePatrick or is this opinion? Name calling, mocking, no verified facts or comparative outcomes, from a group that has an agenda. Once again, bad journalism.
